About the original
The IWC Ingenieur was introduced in 1954 to 1955 as an anti-magnetic watch with a soft iron cage around the movement. In the 1970s the Ingenieur SL gave it a steel case with a bezel with screws and an integrated bracelet. IWC relaunched the Ingenieur in 2023 as the Ingenieur Automatic 40, described as inspired by Gerald Genta's design.
The steel Ingenieur Automatic 40 has a 40 mm case with a bezel with five screws, a grid pattern dial, an integrated H-link bracelet and a framed date. It has a soft iron inner case, 100 m of water resistance and the automatic calibre 32111 with 120 hours of power reserve.
