About the original
Omega's Seamaster 600, known as the Ploprof (from plongeur professionnel), appeared around 1970 for saturation divers. It had a monobloc case and a crown on the left. Later steel and titanium 1200M versions kept the shape but grew in size, and Omega added a helium escape valve.
The current steel reference, 227.32.55.21.03.001, was introduced in 2023 for the Seamaster's 75th anniversary. It returns to the original case size of 55 by 45 mm, is made of O-MEGASTEEL, and has a sapphire bezel insert released by a pusher at 2 o'clock. It uses the Master Chronometer calibre 8912 and has no date. The Summer Blue colours are specific to this reference; earlier Ploprofs used orange and white accents.
