About the original
Patek Philippe introduced the Nautilus in 1976 as ref. 3700/1A, a steel sports watch designed by Gerald Genta. The steel time-and-date 5711/1A followed in 2006. It kept the overall look and concept of the 1976 model while changing the case construction, the movement and the dial.
The 5711/1A-010 blue reference has a 40 mm steel octagonal case with two curved ears at the sides, a porthole-inspired bezel and flanks, and a blue dial with horizontal grooves. The bracelet is integrated into the case, and the case mixes brushed and polished surfaces. Patek Philippe confirmed in 2021 that the 5711 would be discontinued.
