About the original
The Historiques American 1921 was introduced in 2009. It combines the look of two earlier Vacheron Constantin watches, one from 1919 and one from 1921, which were made with the American market in mind. Both had a cushion case and a dial tilted so a driver could read the time with both hands on the wheel.
The 40 mm pink gold version has a cushion case, a dial rotated 45 degrees, a crown at the 1 o'clock position and a small seconds sub-dial on the same tilted axis. It is hand wound by the in-house calibre 4400 AS. A 36.5 mm version is sold alongside it.
