What reviewers and owners say
Reviewers
From 7 reviews we read or watched.
Reviewers found the S407 good value for its price. They liked the finish of the case and bracelet, the strong lume including the lumed date, and a firm, aligned bezel. Two reviewers called the bracelet clasp the weak point of the package, one calling it rattly, and one wanted the extra ten dollars spent on the ceramic insert. Reviewers noted the thickness, about 13 to 14.5 mm, as chunky, and that 200 m is well below the original's 600 m.
The movement is an NH35, which one reviewer said hacks and hand-winds. One reviewer found the original hour hand too small and said the brand replaced it with a wider one, which the current listing also states. Two more reviewers who bought the watch also praised the case and bracelet finish and the lumed date. One of them measured 40.2 mm wide and 14.3 mm thick, so thicker than the brand lists, and the other called the bezel well aligned with slight backplay. Both found the clasp acceptable but basic (a pressed shell with a milled mechanism), one noting a little gapping and one a few sharp edges around the end-link spring bars. One saw the lume on the printed indices fade sooner than on the hands.
Good
- Slab-sided case follows the 600T shape, crown at 4
- Flat sapphire with inner AR coating per the brand
- Strong lume, including a lumed date wheel
- Choice of steel or ceramic bezel insert, 11 colourways
- Seiko NH35A, which reviewers say hacks and hand-winds
Less good
- Clasp is basic and rattly per reviewers
- 13.5 mm height; reviewers call it chunky
- 200 m rating, against the original's 600 m
- Markers are not all shark-tooth shaped
- One reviewer found the original hour hand too small on his unit; the brand says the current hand is wider
Known quality issues
Each reported by at least two independent sources.
- The bracelet clasp feels basic: one reviewer called it rattly with a keeper that seems about to come loose, another said it is the one area where a compromise was made for the price.
