About the original
Super Compressor is the name of a case design from the case maker Ervin Piquerez S.A. (EPSA). A spring pressing the caseback against a gasket made the case seal better as depth increased. EPSA made these cases from the late 1950s into the early 1970s, and that the best-known ones had two crowns, at 2 and 4 o'clock: the 4 o'clock crown wound and set the movement, the 2 o'clock crown turned an internal diving bezel.
Christopher Ward says its Swiss team re-engineered the mechanism from scratch for the C65 Super Compressor, with a compression spring 300 microns thick. The 2024 Elite version adds a chronometer-certified Sellita SW300-1 and a caseback coin with the original EPSA diving-helmet logo. It is a 41 mm steel watch rated to 150 m.
