About the original
'Baby Ploprof' is a collectors' nickname for the Seamaster 120 references 166.0250 and 166.0251, made in the late 1970s. The name comes from the hands, especially the large minute hand, which look like those of the bigger Seamaster 600 Ploprof. Sources disagree on dates: one dealer says it was developed in 1972, others date examples from 1973 to 1979, and one says production ran to about 1981.
The watch has an angular steel case of about 39 to 40 mm, an integrated bracelet, an automatic calibre 1010 and 120 m of water resistance. The 166.0250 is described as having a basic mesh-style bracelet, while the 166.0251 has a case shape and bracelet that are more fully integrated. Omega teased a possible modern version in late 2025.
