About the original
Rolex introduced the Sea-Dweller Deepsea in 2008 as a diver's watch rated to 3,900 m. Its case uses the Ringlock system, a ring, a thick sapphire crystal and a titanium case back that carry the water pressure. A version with a dial that shades from blue to black was released in 2014 with the film maker James Cameron.
The 136660 was released in 2022. It keeps the 44 mm case and D-Blue dial of the earlier reference, with a slimmer bezel, a larger date window and no Fliplock extension. It has an automatic helium escape valve and uses the automatic calibre 3235 with a 70-hour power reserve.
