About the original
Seiko launched the 6105-8110 diver in July 1970, rated to 150 m. Its case flows into an asymmetrical extension that protects a crown set at four o'clock. The watch was worn by the Japanese adventurer Naomi Uemura on his 1970s expeditions, and it later appeared on screen in Apocalypse Now, which is where the collector name Willard comes from.
Seiko brought the design back as a limited edition in 2019 and, in 2020, as the regular Prospex SPB151 (black dial, steel bracelet) and SPB153 (olive dial, silicone strap). Both use a 42.7 mm steel case, a 6R35 automatic movement, a sapphire crystal and 200 m water resistance, and keep the cushion case with its guarded crown at four.
