Reviewers liked the size and the finish. At 39.5 mm across and under 48 mm lug to lug the watch wears compact and flat, and they praised the fluted bezel, the signed onion crown, the pushers, the polished details on the case and the riveted rubber strap with its signed buckle. The printed dial was found crisp and the hands bold. Reviewers describe the design as following the Hanhart pilot chronograph, with a quartz-based movement in place of the original's mechanical one.
The VK64a gives a near smooth chronograph sweep with a snappy reset, and the 24-hour register takes the place of a running seconds register, which three reviewers did not like. Three found the lume on the printed dial fades before the hands, and one said the lume was impressive. Three reviewers described the bezel as a firm 120-click type (a fourth found it clicky but a little hard to grip) that turns one way with no play, not the free-turning bezel they expected on this style of watch. One reviewer disliked the sharp inside edges of the lugs.
