Why it scores as it does
Proportions and movement are computed from specs. Design details and functions are judged from the brand's official images. How we score
Lug-to-lug is neither published nor measured for one of the two watches, so there is not enough data to score.

What reviewers and owners say
Reviewers
From 3 reviews we read or watched, 2 of them with a watch supplied by the brand.
All three reviewers liked the fully luminous dial, and one called the lume very bright and the dial ultra legible. They also liked the brushed case finishing and the quick-release straps. Two of them found the watch big for a 40 mm model: one said it is a little bigger than he likes and thought a 20 mm lug width would suit it better than 22 mm, and the other found it thicker and longer than the Swiss original it follows. One reviewer found the white dial washes out in direct sun because the sapphire has no anti-reflective coating. They differed on the crown: one called it a plain polished off-the-shelf crown, the other found it slippery to turn. One reviewer felt and heard the rotor spinning on the wrist and found the stock strap stiff at first. The third reviewer (a brand-supplied unit) found the mesh bracelet thick and well made, with a double-safety clasp. He confirmed with a tester that both the front crystal and the caseback glass are sapphire, found the date window too small to read easily, and disliked the stutter of the Miyota 8215's seconds hand. He wished for 100 m of water resistance instead of 50 m.
Good

- Sapphire crystal with an exhibition caseback
- Brushed case finishing
- Quick-release strap or mesh bracelet options
- Date window that does not cut into a marker

- Thick, well-made mesh bracelet with a double-safety clasp, per one reviewer
Less good
- Larger and thicker than the original (12 mm thick, 47.5 mm lug to lug)
- No anti-reflective coating, so the white dial can wash out in sun
- Rotor noise felt on the wrist (one reviewer)
- Seconds hand ends in a rectangle, not a round disc
- Small date window that is hard to read, per one reviewer
- Seconds hand of the Miyota 8215 stutters, per one reviewer
